I have been in the field of education for over two decades and have been in various roles from facilitation to teaching. My work as a Teacher Mentor with Jodo Gyan, Delhi, an organisation that works in Elementary Math Pedagogy gave me insights into pedagogy and the importance of the use of teaching learning materials in the classroom to help make learning more hands-on and joyful. Further I developed an interest in the Steiner Methodology and did the Steiner Education Course from Tridha, following which I worked with Kalpavruksha as a teacher for a year. Currently I am associated with Kalpavruksha in the capacity of a teacher Mentor for Mathematics.
I received training in music and classical dance as a child and this training has helped me in developing new ways of looking at, and understanding the world. In my experience music and dance like any other art form, sharpens the ‘senses’. It also helps you become more aware of the beauty around us and respond to it in our own ways and gives us a unique way of self-expression.
Music is central to the Waldorf Education. I was Inspired by Mrs. Priyanka Panhalkar’s idea of incorporating regional music more deeply into the curriculum and will be working with the teachers to develop a music curriculum.
